How tuition works
What sets tuition is the length of a lesson (30, 45 or 60 minutes), whether it is private or shared, and whether you join a class or an ensemble hour. Summer drum weeks are by the week. We go over the figures with you at your first class.
Private lesson: one student with a teacher
Shared lesson: two students with a teacher
Group class: a pad class or an ensemble hour
Summer drum week: by the week
Registration
A yearly registration covers your student file, a first listen with a teacher and setting up a weekly time. It is due when you sign up, and we tell you the amount at your first class.
Holding a place
A weekly time with a teacher is held once your first month is billed. When a teacher's week is full we keep a waitlist and send an offer by email as a time opens.
Billing
Lessons are billed monthly and summer weeks by the week. Autopay is set up when you enroll. A monthly plan covers the whole session, so it is not pay-as-you-go.
Siblings
If more than one person in a family enrolls, ask us. Two brothers and sisters, or a parent and a child, are handled differently from a single student, and we explain how at sign-up.
Withdrawing
We ask for a month's written notice before you leave. A session in progress is billed through the notice month.
Missed classes and make-ups
A lesson canceled with a day's notice is made up with the same teacher in the same month. A lesson missed without notice is not made up. Group classes and ensemble hours are not made up; your teacher sends the plan for the week.
Sticks, books and other extras
Extras are sticks, a practice pad, a method book your teacher chooses and a rental of a pad or a kit for home. We say what each is for at your first class, and we go over the figures then.
